Life in the Canaries
By Ewan | November 10, 2008
So we’ve made it to the canaries, and have spent the last week settling into life in Las Palmas.
Daily routines revolve around working through jobs on the boat, finishing off the bits and pieces we didn’t quite get around to in the UK, adjusting systems and making general improvements - like fitting more lights - low power LED lighting is all well and good until you actually want to see anything!
You’ll be glad to hear that it’s not all work work work - we’ve been finding time for a few surfing trips and of course the odd relaxing beer or two in the Sailors Bar.
We thought we’d lost our tender a couple of nights ago when Alex and Duncan were faced with a late night (early morning) swim back out to the boat after our tender had been ‘borrowed’. We found it a few hours later tied to a 105′ super yacht - apparently it looks just like a tender belonging to one of their friends (!) hmmm. Either that or the tender wasn’t happy with our boat and decided to associate itself with a somewhat more upmarket version! Being a small place it wasn’t long before we found ourselves drinking in the same bar and had a good laugh about the whole thing. Several bottles of wine, many pints of beer (enough to sink big Dunc) and a purple ‘team’ top later we recon they’ve just about restored the universal balance.
We’re off to explore a couple of marinas round the south of the island whilst continuing our assault on the jobs list.
