Aruba
By Ewan | March 31, 2009
Aruba is a short overnight sail from Curacao. We even had to do some early morning slowing down tactics to make sure that we arrived in sufficient light to get in through the reef to the marina. Once checked in, and tied up in the marina, a quick dive to the bottom of the rudder to check we had enough depth confirmed all was okay. We quickly settled into the local life, enjoying the facilities of the hotels that the marina is associated with: showers, gyms (although we somehow didn’t find the time to use these!) private island (!) as well as the local cafes, bars, cinema, shops and laundry – clean clothes!!!
As ever there was some work to be done too, including building a more sophisticated emergency rudder with parts we’d bought in Curacao.
