Canal transit tomorrow…
By Ewan | April 23, 2009
So we’ve filled the boat up with food, fitted the new mainsail, and have some new crew. Logic is now sitting noticably lower in the water!
Jens, Nicole and Tuck have joined and we’re going to pick up Jurrie on saturday on the Pacific side before heading off for the Galapagos on either Sunday or Monday all being well.
We have booked in for the canal transit starting tomorrow - they are usually spread over two days - so should be under the webcam somewhere between 12.30 and 14.30 friday afternoon local time (GMT -5 here).
The wetseason has started - very abrubtly and convincingly yesterday - it has hardly stopped raining since. An alternative theory is that Jens carries Manchester weather with him wherever he goes (no wonder he is so into tea drinking when constantly followed by wet weather!).
Somehow we’ve managed to pack all the food and drink away. The deck and cockpit are looking a little more cluttered now as the tender, fuel cans and boards have made way for extra food and drink. We’re now up to two surfboards with the addition of Tuck’s 9′ and soon to get another when Colin joins us in the Galapagos (hopefully we’ve got enough stantions to secure them all to!).
Since this website is a little tricky to keep up todate by the satphone I’ve set up a simpler one that we can easily update you through from the satphone. It is http://blog.mailasail.com/questionablelogic
I’ll try to keep at least the position up to date every couple of days or so as we make our way across the pacific.
It all seems a bit strange getting ready to move again after being in the same place for so long. Very exciting though! We’ll be sure to get some pics of the canal transit and get them onto the web.
